International Women's Day Events, 2007 Listings by province or territory: Wise Women Awards: Since 1992, the Council has been recognizing women for their time, commitment and work in improving the lives of women and families in their communities. The awards are meant to honour women who are role models in their communities and who provide volunteer, counseling and caregiver service to others. It recognizes the advocacy work, the support and education given to improve the status of women in the NWT. The award is meant to encourage women to continue their great work. Nominations are sought from the regions of the Beaufort/Delta, Sahtu, Deh Cho, North Slave and South Slave. All nominations must be in by February 16, 2007. See website for more details.
